Wah Hong, Radiant see mixed results in June

Optical film maker Wah Hong Industrial reached NT$937 million (US$31.05 million) in revenues during June 2013, down 3.5% on month but up 5% on year. The company reported NT$2.95 billion in second-quarter 2013, up 14.09% on quarter, and also a saw a 6.49% on-year increase in total revenues from January through June 2013.
Wah Hong saw steady orders for materials used in TVs as well as for optical film throughout the second quarter, and also bumped up shipments for ITO conductive film, said industry sources, adding that the company expects orders for materials used in tablet applications to pick up in the second half of the year.
Meanwhile, Radiant Optoelectronics saw its shipments for backlighting units (BLUs) used in notebook applications drop to 6.93 million units in June. Additionally, the company saw shipments of BLUs used in LCD monitor applications reach 669,000 units while shipments for BLUs used in TVs dropped to 17,000 units, down from 35,000 units in May 2013.
