針對外界有人建議仿效美國使用空投活毒疫苗乙事，農委會主委陳保基25日表示，世界動物衛生組織（OIE）並不推薦，因為是活毒疫苗，在野外有一定風險，美國只做了一次就重新評估。

陳保基是在行政院會會後記者會，作上述表示。

防檢局日前也說，國外雖有使用狂犬病活毒疫苗之例子，但依據美國經驗，使用活毒疫苗須考慮疫情嚴重程度及疫區狀況，並於使用後評估防疫成效。又考慮狂犬病活毒疫苗不如死毒疫苗安全，世界衛生組織亦建議都市人口密集區不要使用活毒疫苗。鑑於國內狂犬病病例仍屬個案，加上狂犬病活毒疫苗可能造成接觸民眾產生不良反應，故前述「狂犬病防治工作小組會議」與會專家一致評估暫不考慮使用活毒疫苗。

防檢局呼籲民眾，不要捕捉或接觸野生動物，如發現任何傷亡野生動物，應通知所在地動物防疫機關處理，切勿自行處理，並請家中飼養犬貓之民眾，務必每年攜帶犬貓施打狂犬病疫苗，同時避免讓寵物和野生動物接觸，以確保安全。
