中國男籃隊9日以18分慘敗給中華隊，無緣晉級4強，創下大陸男籃38年亞錦賽最差戰績。對此，大陸媒體大表不滿，紛紛以最爛、恥辱入題！連官媒《人民日報》都以「巨人轟然倒下、其實只剩皮囊」，毫不掩飾地批評。
《人民日報》在10日的體育版文章指出，以78：96的比數輸給中華隊，創下亞錦賽以來最差戰績，「不是惜敗而是慘敗，是被打蒙了之後的慘敗。」
文章形容，大陸隊昨天的表現是空有身高的「泥足巨人」，內線得分、籃板球和打破僵局的能力都遠不如中華隊，再加上沒有好的後衛，沒有雪中送炭的尖兵，「巨人轟然倒下時，其實只剩皮囊」。
大陸輿論都在問，「中國男籃怎麼了？」包括大陸隊這次狀態不佳、心態失衡且低估中華隊反擊的決心和能力，是慘敗主因、近年來，大陸國家男籃隊愛用「洋教練」究竟是否正確外、大陸籃壇正面臨青黃不接及舉國體制與市場利益衝突時的糾結。
文章指出，獲勝的中華隊有5名球員在大陸的CBA職業聯賽中效力，另一方面引入職業體育的中國籃壇，卻面臨各種利益衝突的情況。
《籃球先鋒報》總編輯蘇群甚至認為，大陸籃壇存在太多黑幕，他回應「有黑就大膽揭吧!」
