捍衛苗栗青年聯盟16日晚上在苗栗縣政府前舉辦「守護苗栗音樂會」，約上千名聲援大埔、不滿苗栗縣長強制徵收土地的民眾參加，原先節目正常舉行，甚至邀請歌手一一上台演唱，不過節目到後段完全走樣，結束前約5分鐘，群眾一起向縣府大樓灑冥紙、砸雞蛋，表達他們的不滿。
約晚上10點左右，原先平和的音樂會突然走樣，大批聲援大埔民眾，拿出準備好的臭雞蛋、冥紙砸向縣府大樓，10多位閃避不及的員警當場遭到「蛋襲」，甚至還有一位張姓員警，因眼睛遭蛋殼砸傷送台中榮總急救。
這場活動，警方判斷完全失策，原先為了避免激化情緒，加上主辦單位標榜音樂會理性訴求，最後只派出不到70名員警在現場待命，最後場面失控，只能用現有警力在場邊蒐證。
苗栗警分局長陳家銘表示，這場晚會原本平和、柔性進行，但最後出現砸雞蛋，甚至將警員砸傷等行為，未來警方一定會根據錄影畫面依法追究。
而在稍早音樂會上，不少民眾用不同方式表達訴求，有人高舉抗議標語痛批劉政鴻強制徵地。也有人扮演孝女白琴，上演超渡劉政鴻金權政治水陸大法會。 (接下一頁)
