中信兄弟拚下半季王座，好事多磨，原定10日在天母的兄弟對統一獅之戰，因雨場地積水，比賽延至11日晚5時在原場地補賽；兩隊都按原定計畫，兄弟由洋投寇迪先發，獅隊仍由廖文揚主投。

兄弟洋投寇迪本季戰績6勝2敗、防禦率2.62，對獅隊戰績2勝2敗、防禦率1.88，目前4連勝，對獅隊連續7.2局沒失分；獅隊廖文揚本季戰績10勝4敗、防禦率3.91，對兄弟戰績4勝2敗、防禦率3.10。

兄弟本季對廖文揚，「恰恰」彭政閔對戰打擊率5成26，還有1支全壘打，因此恰恰能否發揮水準，帶領打擊群突破廖文揚防線，將是兄弟能否下半季封王的關鍵，黃仕豪對廖文揚打擊率3成81，陳江和3成08、有1支全壘打。

兄弟8日對義大犀牛之戰，延長賽10局3比4落敗，錯失封王良機，10日對獅隊之戰，兄弟只能贏不能輸，即使和局也無法封王，此戰由寇迪先發，林煜清待命，兄弟無論如何，都要贏得此戰。統一獅總教練陳連宏表示「就是要按照平常的調度，全力求勝」。
