儘管 Sony 近來表現與狀況都稱不上太好，但對於各種新科技的涉獵依然是不停歇。在 Apple 與 Google 都相繼踏進自動駕駛車 / 無人車領域的現今，該公司現也傳出已投入約 1 億日元在新創自動汽車公司 ZMP 之上。希望能配合 Sony 的影像感測器與 ZMP 在機器人領域的技術，研發自有的自動駕駛車技術。是說，即便有了合作，其實也不見得這代表將可在市場上看到該廠牌的汽車出現，不過未來若是看到內建該廠技術的類似車款出現，倒是應該不會太令人意外才是。
