311福島核災污染遠超預期！日本當局初步估計福島核電廠排至海洋的高輻射污水，每天高達300公噸。日相安倍晉三認為事態緊急，首度下令政府協助東京電力公司(Tepco)清理。

華爾街日報和路透社報導，福島核災事發兩年半，負責營運的東電最近才坦承輻射水外洩。依照目前的排水量，不用一週就能注滿奧運泳池。日本產經省(METI)官員表示，當局相信污水已外洩兩年之久。他說不清楚外洩水源是否全部遭到污染，但有此可能。污水來自核電廠到海岸之間的區域，東電曾試圖用化學物質硬化土壤，避免輻射水外流。

日相安倍強調，日本民眾高度關心輻射水問題，是必須處理的緊急狀況；政府需要採取行動，不能靠東電解決問題。日本經濟新聞(Nikkei)報導，若要凍結土壤阻止地下水流入核電廠，恐再花400億日圓(4.1億美元)。先前預估核災清理工作需耗時40年，花費110億美元。
