陳菊說，天津是國際港口城市、北方經濟中心、生態宜居的城市，「天津是個美麗的城市，高雄要迎頭趕上」。

據臺灣媒體報道，臺灣高雄市長陳菊參觀天津城市規劃館，讚賞天津發展定位明確；她也期許，由她治理的高雄能『迎頭趕上』。中午主持『高雄推介會』時，陳菊說，高雄要從重工業城市轉型為生態城市，努力發展觀光旅遊、電影文創等產業。
根據臺灣網報導，2013亞太城市高峰會將於今(2013)年9月9日在高雄舉辦，高雄市長陳菊9日抵天津，展開天津、深圳、廈門、福州四城市的城市交流之旅，這是2009年陳菊訪陸後，再次登陸。陳菊將結束天津之行，飛往深圳。
陳菊說，天津是國際港口城市、北方經濟中心、生態宜居的城市，『天津是個美麗的城市，高雄要迎頭趕上』。
陳菊說，當年八國聯軍在天津留下各種不同建築，至今屹立原地，天津把這些建築完整保留，多元、異質性包容，才能創造一個城市的偉大。
陳菊讚賞天津的城市規劃，『百年的發展，規劃得非常完整。』讓她感動的是，規劃過程中，很多市民意見受重視，幾乎是天津整個城市參與規劃，且還在陸續發展中。
陳菊今將離開天津，前往南方三城市深圳、廈門及福州，繼續其城市交流。
