沙烏地阿拉伯最高神職人員教長穆夫提謝赫（Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz al-Sheikh）在利雅德的一份聲明中，抨擊IS伊斯蘭國以及基地組織，是伊斯蘭的「頭號敵人」（enemy number one）。

「極端主義、種族主義以及恐怖主義，無益於伊斯蘭教，而是伊斯蘭教的頭號敵人」。謝赫特別舉伊斯蘭國以及基地組織為例。
