南投縣竹山警察分局於7日上午8時許，在分局4樓禮堂舉辦義警常年訓練，義警中隊長林清泉率9小隊共計110人參加訓練，除了分局教官陳錦約加強義警基本應用技術訓練外，並邀請高雄市清涼音學宛胡國強老師主講「領導統御與士氣激勵」引起熱烈迴響；另外警察局保安民防科長丁俊仁對民防人員的福利互助做詳細的說明，並且做有獎徵答，贈送實用手電筒。

竹山警察分局長簡仁照精神講話中表示，民防義警係民眾自發性團體，成員平時從事各行各業，利用工作之餘參加協助警察勤務，針對轄區治安死角、警力單薄偏僻派出所，編排勤務加強巡邏或定點守望防範宵小，發現可疑，隨時通報警察機關，真正發揮「警力有限、民力無窮」的作用；另在會中也宣導不要有酒後駕車行為，以免害人害己。

分局長簡仁照表示，警力有限、民力無窮，整頓治安不能僅靠政府或警察單一方面的努力，期盼社會大眾共同關心治安，加強預防犯罪等宣導，凝聚民眾治安意識，全民的參與是維護治安最大、最有效的動力。
