美國總統歐巴馬1月20日發表國情咨文時，最高法院大法官露絲‧金斯伯格出現在席上打盹的畫面，金斯伯格坦承，她會打盹，是晚餐時無法抗拒加州葡萄美酒，後來不勝酒力的結果。

81歲的金斯伯格是最高法院歲數最大的大法官，她十二日晚與另一位大法官史卡利亞一起出席喬治華盛頓大學一項活動時，坦承歐巴馬演說時，她不是「百分之百清醒」。

金斯伯格數度被拍到打盹。她表示每逢總統發表國情咨文，一些大法官會在演說前團聚，共進晚餐。過去數年老是在國情咨文演說中打盹後，她誓言今年只喝氣泡水，結果還是無法抗拒大法官甘奈迪帶來的加州好酒。

以往，前大法官蘇特會在她打盹時捏她一把，今年坐她身旁的大法官比較膽小，因此她睡個不醒。
