Windows XP和 Windows 8 的不同

我目前使用的為Windows XP 最近有考慮換新主機
換主機後之後新軟體為Windows 8.1
請問原本XP和Win8.1除了介面使用上和傳統的不同外
有速度.效率種種功能的提升嗎
譬如.玩Minecraft 楓之谷等遊戲時時常會lag(去年還不會這麼頻繁) 光是開啟奇摩首頁就必須花較長時間

如有使用上不同以外的區別還請麻煩說明一下!
我對電腦沒什麼概念= = 還請不要說的太深奧
